Proposal for Second Language Acquisition - 550 Words

Proposal for Second Language Acquisition (Essay Sample) Content: PROPOSAL FOR SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITIONName:Institution affiliated:Date of submission:Tutor:In this study I am going to explore the different theoretical findings and viewpoint concerning the second language acquisition. It will be used to identify the general principals from research and theories that have been developed to provide more insights on the second language acquisition. The second language acquisition is done both consciously and unconsciously by the learners. The unconscious acquisition of the second language is done picking up the phonologies of the language. The conscious part of acquisition of second language is where the learner actively tries to understand the phonologies of the language CITATION Lou14 \l 2057 (Loudres, 2014).Key findings from the literature that help me to understand the issue include the aspects that determine the speed and competency in the second language acquisition. The speed of acquiring phonologies while learning a second l anguage has been vied to be highly influenced by the age of the learner. A number of literatures have been developed to try and shed more insights on how the ages of the learners determine the speed at which they learn the new target language. Digging deeper into the literature of most authors in this field, we identify two models that explain the relationship between the ages of the learners and the acquisition of second language. The models are the speech learning models and the perceptual assimilation model. Each of these models ascertains that although the learning process remain part of the whole lifespan of the human beings, the children are likely to learn faster than the adults CITATION Pao02 \l 2057 (Paola Paul, 2002).Based on my experiences and what I have read, this issue is important because the aspect of age plays a crucial factor in determining the acquisition of second language. A number of models have been developed to try and explain how the ages of the learners d etermine their competency and speed of acquiring second languages. It has been argued that children are more likely to gain competency in learning a second language as compared to the older learners CITATION Coo15 \l 2057 (Cooke, Garca, Gong, 2015). The best learning ages are the ages between two to twelve years popularly known as the beginning and the end of resonance. The report will further provide insights on how the phonological acquisitions determine the second language acquisition in the learners. Concrete experience is the point where the learners are willingly involved in acquiring the experience. The phonologies of the new language refer to the organization of the sounds in the language. Further experience has showed that morphological and syntact...
